【摘要】:1.1Thistestmethodcoversequipmentandmethodsfordetectinggrossdefectsandmechanicaldamage(includingwear-through)inmetalliccoatingswherethebreaksinthecoatingpenetratedowntoacopperorcopperalloysubstrate.1.2Thistestmethodissuitableforcoatingsconsistingofsingleorcombinedlayersofanycoatingthatdoesnotsignificantlytarnishinanalkalinepolysulfidesolution.Examplesaregold,nickel,tin,tin-lead,andpalladium,ortheiralloys.1.3Recentreviewsofporositytesting(whichincludethoseforgrossdefects)andtestingmethodscanbefoundinliterature.AnASTMguidetotheselectionofporosityandgrossdefecttestsforelectrodepositsandrelatedmetalliccoatingsisavailableasGuideB765.OtherrelatedporosityteststandardsareTestMethodsB735,B741,B798,B799,andB809.1.4ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
